Individual And Family Dental & Vision

The Need

Great, now you have a solid health insurance plan, but did you know major medical typically does not cover dental and eye exams. Don’t worry we got you covered. We offer several dental and vision plans to choose from. With a dental and/or vision plan, not only do you get discounted rates for procedures, but you also typically get free or close to free preventive care such as an eye exam or dental cleaning.

How It Works

Most dental plans we sell for individuals cover preventative procedures from day one like:

  • Routine Check -Ups
  • Cleanings
  • X-Rays
  • Fluoride Applications
  • Space Maintainers

Most individual dental plans will also cover the following minor restorative procedures like fillings from day one. Typically the plan will have a $50 deductible that you must meet and then the plan will cover a certain percentage of the costs until the policy hits a maximum annual payout. In some plans the percentage that the insurance will pay is 80%, and the maximum the insurance company will pay is a fixed dollar amount or a carrier may limit the number of procedures per year. Finally, major restorative work such as:

  • Oral surgery
  • Prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, and dentures)
  • Endodontics (root canals)
  • Periodontics (scaling and root planing)

typically are not covered until the plan is kept for 12 months and is usually covered at 50% of the costs.

Most vision plans will include an annual eye-check with a nominal co-pay (about $15). Contact lens fittings are usually about a $50 additional charge . Most vision plans will also offer up to  a $100 frame allowance for a nominal copay and 20% off  the remaining cost. In addition, a good vision plan will also provide basic lenses for a nominal copay.
