The Benefit

Not only is having a comprehensive health plan key to retaining talented employees, but so is a vision and dental plan. For around $50/$100 (individual/family) per month you can provide quality dental and vision coverage for your employees.

The Details

Most group dental plans we sell for cover preventive procedures from day one such as:

  • Routine Check -Ups
  • Cleanings
  • X-Rays
  • Fluoride Applications
  • Space Maintainers

Most group dental plans will also immediately cover minor restorative procedures such as fillings. Typically the plan will have a $50 deductible and then the plan will cover a certain percentage of the costs until the policy hits a maximum annual payout. In some plans the percentage that the insurance will pay is 80%, and the maximum the insurance company will pay is a fixed dollar amount or a carrier may limit the number of procedures per year.

Unlike Individual Dental Plans that almost always have a 1 year wait for major restorative work such as:

  • Oral surgery
  • Prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, and dentures)
  • Endodontics (root canals)
  • Periodontics (scaling and root planing)

Some group health plans will cover these procedures from day one.

Another key difference between  Individual Dental Plans and group plans is that group plans with 10 or more employees have the ability to get orthodontia benefits.

Most vision plans will include an annual eye-check with a nominal co-pay (about $15). Contact lens fittings are usually about a $50 additional charge. Most vision plans will also offer up to a $100 frame allowance for a nominal copay and 20% off the remaining cost. In addition, a good vision plan will also provide basic lenses for a nominal copay.
